Management and co-workers are amazing, they are positive, supportive, and always willing to provide positive feedback regarding daily shift challenges.Discovery Behavioral Health (DBH) is a national leader in behavioral healthcare and one of the fastest growing companies in the field. The opportunity to work one-on-one with clients has served great value to my education and progression within this particular field. This job has provided wonderful clinical experience in a residential setting. Menu planning and any additional basic nutrition counseling is provided after dinner, and then I finish my shift with notes/documentation and appliance temperature checks. After dinner, any client supplementation is calculated and administered, and I help clean-up the kitchen. ![]() Dinner is consumed "family style" and I assist in client supervision and behavior redirection. Next, full dinner preparation for all staff and clients is completed, this includes cooking, setting table, preparing assembly line for clients, and making any necessary meal plan adjustments according to individualized client/staff dietary constraints. Prior to dinner prep, I like to perform a quick food inventory check to make sure I have all the ingredients to prepare dinner, and to make sure the food items clients have planned for the duration of the day are available - a quick run to the grocery store may be needed. Hire a robot! Oh and thanks for letting me go around the holidays! I tried doing exactly what they wanted, but according to them, it wasn't good enough. Constantly nit-picking for common "human" mistakes and not considering that the culprit is owning up to it sends a questionable vibe of management in my opinion. So much for thinking it was worth it.ĭon't get me wrong, the staff was great (some of them), the management made me skeptical & suspicious. This made me so mad because I not only drove an hour & 40 minutes to work, but I gave up my weekends to work when they needed me. During the meetings while they were going over everything, the management just sounded as if they were practicing a script and parroting back what they're being paid to say in other words, not being their own person. No matter how much I explained/defended myself, the management either believed the clients, or other staff members. They found every little dent to report to the point where it was like walking on thumb tacks during my shift. However, when I accidentally slipped up, I got in trouble that resulted in written warnings. Let me just put it this way, it was okay for other staff members to be unprofessional, use foul language, and talk about their personal lives (along with slandering other staff members) in front of the clients. I started working there for a month (not by choice). ![]()
